"더 북 소사이어티"는 소규모 자주출판에 대한 경험적, 담론적 이해를 위한 프로젝트 공간이다. 출판에 대한 여러 가지 이슈를 다루는 강연 형식의 ‘퍼블리싱 이슈’(Publishing Issues), 국내외 예술 기관 및 출판사와 작가 등이 참여하여 자신의 책을 판매하고 소개하는 ‘페어’(Fair), 하루 동안 스스로 책을 기획하고 제작까지 하는 ‘워크숍’을 비롯해 ‘퍼블리셔 토크’(Publisher’s Talk)와 공연, 스크리닝까지 다양한 행사들이 진행된다.

The Book Society invites independent publishers/booksellers/artist/designers, organize lectures (Publishing Issues)/workshop/talks, and defines the meaning of Self-Publishing and its cultural potentiality. During the event, each publisher can gather, share their local conditions, strategy for the sustainable publishing, and practical information/skills. The Book Society focuses on encouraging people with the interest of DIY ethos to express their creativity via the self-producing.
